At Bango Media, we are constantly creating pitches for clients. In doing this, we realise the importance of an image in making or breaking a pitch.
Whilst written text forms the fundamental and bulk of a pitch, as the saying goes “A picture is worth a thousand words”. A pitch must be concise, engaging and relevant, and so too must be the visuals. For new companies, the relevance of images is often overlooked. We have compiled a few pointers to highlight how to make the most of visual content for your company.
The above image of Chelsea Pitman (professional netballer) and Jess Meares (TV personality) was used to go along with a story about a masquerade ball charity event that they were hosting. Note that it is close range, uses a prop to tell the story visually and give some visual clues, and is a clear shot.
Visual content must be:
High resolution:
A high-resolution image positions your business as professional and interesting. High quality and high-resolution images are not only aesthetically pleasing, but easier to work with. Visual content is quickly becoming paramount in digital marketing, meaning a professional look can set you apart from others.
Relevant:
The image must have a purpose and relate to the content and your company. The visuals should compliment the written text to create a story. Choose images that capture the message and reflect the pitch. Otherwise an image can distract the reader and send a misleading message. To achieve this, you must have a good understanding of both your business and audience.
Bright and Bold:
People react to imagery, meaning a bright, bold image is more likely to gain attention than text alone. Remember that one large, high-resolution image is more impactful that several, smaller low quality images. Choose bright colours and include people to make the images eye-catching and positive.
